How do you prevent this? There is so much precipitation on the pipes that it makes it seem like they are leaking!

  1. There is pipe wrap available. It helps keep your pipes from freezing in the winter from and condensing in the summer. It's a styrofoam wrap & can be purchased at Menards, Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

  2. wrap them with pipe insulation

They're most likely picking up condensation from moisture in the air, if they're wrapped and insulated, this probably won't happen (unless they are leaking, then that's another issue)

  3. You can buy foam sleeves that fit over the pipes at any big box hardware store. That should stop the condensation.

However that does not deal with the source of the problem. I believe the humidity in your basement is high. A dehumidifier will reduce the humidity and that should stop the condensation as well as reduce the humidity in your house.

  4. They have a protective insulation that you can put around your pipes that will prevent this ...check at your local home center.

  5. You will need to insulate the pipes. The issue is warm air reacting with cold pipes. This operation is easy and cheap and will save you energy costs in the winter as well.
