Perez Diaz heads Latin America oversight operations
Latin America is known to produce some of the best players in Major League Baseball and with a good number of stars coming through in the National League and the American League, the strides towards a better structure in looking over players needs to be
enforced.
The World Series in 2010 recently concluded and the San Francisco Giants walked off as the winners of the tournament. As the season moves into off season, towards Thanksgiving, ball teams across the country are looking to invest their hard earned cash on
players available in the free agents market.
Nevertheless, teams may be focusing more on reforming and altering rosters, but the Major League Baseball management is concentrating on streamlining the process involved with fluidly synchronizing operations from all corners of the planet. The structure
within the governing body requires enriching each year and with important members of the group leaving for other viable positions, the need to promote a notable candidate becomes a necessity.
Sandy Alderson was the last chairman of Latin America Operations but his move to the New York Mets as the new General Manager has left the seat vacant. However, the problem of choosing the right man for the vacant post has passed. Perez Diaz from Pietrantoni
and Alvarez LLP has been given the charge and he is helped by three consultants, in carrying out his tasks.
Sandy Alderson will be one of the three, while Larry Beinfest, Florida Marlins Baseball Operations President, will be the new inductee in the team, along with Minnesota Twins General Manager, Bill Smith.
Commissioner Bud Selig issued a statement which said, "Sandy has simply done a remarkable job as the point person for improving our operations in the Dominican Republic and throughout Latin America, and now the team he has built is well-equipped to continue
this vital work. I am very pleased that Jorge, who has been a valuable member of our efforts thus far, will now oversee our duties in Latin America. Jorge will have outstanding resources in Sandy, Larry, Bill, and many other dedicated employees of Major League
Baseball, as we continue to make progress in areas that are critical to our future operations".
Perez has been involved with Major League Baseball for a long time now. His area of expertise can be narrowed to the scope relating to operations in Latin America. His promotion will help the body achieve its targets effectively.
