Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, is a man who has a lot on his plate as he is now torn between the two camps at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The form of Real Madrid in the Primera Division has fallen dramatically. They are a far cry from the record-breaking team they were last season as they won the title in a spectacular fashion.
They were far behind in the table standing before their encounter with Malaga. After their 3-2 defeat by the Andalusians, Real have now surely lost any chance of retaining their La Liga crown this season as they are 16 points behind their bitter-rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
To make things worse, there is no unity and harmony in the Santiago Bernabeu and the camp is split into two.
It is divided into those who are with the club boss, Jose Mourinho, and those who are critical of him and sided with their captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iker-Casillas-c16815.
As we know Mourinho is a man of difficult character. Wherever he goes, he likes to cement his presence and become the man who is calling all the shots. He is not a man who can tolerate dissent.
Reports have suggested that some senior players like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Ramos-c33096 and Casillas did not agree with the ways of the Portuguese and because of that Mourinho felt he had to take action.
We had already witnessed what he can do to a player when he goes against him. That is why he dropped Ramos on the bench few months back. But now Mourinho has done the unthinkable as he has touched the untouchable.
The veteran goal-keeper has not been dropped on the bench and missed an important game for Real in more than 10 years.
The decision of the tactician to drop the Spanish international has surprised and shocked many.
Of course the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan boss justified his decision on the fact that it was a ‘technical’ one but many insiders claim that Mourinho did this intentionally. They are of the belief that he took this action to make it clear to everybody
that he is the ‘Special One’ and the one and only that is calling the shots at the Santiago Bernabeu.
In the circles of the city and especially the Spanish press, they have described Mourinho as a man who wreaks havoc wherever he goes and his presence at the club is the major reason why things are not going well.
"The type of person who leaves after causing a car crash," Marca editor, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Palomar.
Now the man at the helm of the club, Florentino Perez, is trying his best to cool down the situation.
On Thursday, the president used his annual dinner for the Spanish media to heal the poisonous relationship between the 49-year-old tactician and the press.
In his speech, Perez told the media that he hoped to put an end to the endless attacks and counter-attacks between Mourinho and the media. He appealed for calmness and requested the press to focus on the positive side of football instead of the negative
news and tension that is surrounding everyone at the moment.
"I would like if we were more united. Real Madrid and the media need each other; we would live much better if we were united. In my way of seeing things, football is not tension, it is leisure, entertainment.”
The question that is occupying everyone’s head at the moment is: Will Perez stand by Mourinho or will he say enough is enough and drop the axe on the Portuguese?
