Perfect Packers set to demolish unimpressive Raiders in Week 14 – NFL Preview
Oakland Raiders have the toughest assignment this week as they visit the Lambeau Field to face the newly-crowned National Football Conference North Division Champions Green Bay Packers.
Packers were awarded the crown when Detroit Lions lost against New Orleans Saints last week, but the players and management are not letting the accomplishment go to their heads.
"It's just the first goal," Coach Mike McCarthy said. "It's the first mile marker that we set out to hit on this journey, and now we're on to the next one."
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers who is likely to win the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award also talked about moving forward saying
"We got the playoff spot, division, hopefully getting the first-round bye and then fortunate enough to be undefeated and I want to talk about something else."
The Packers can secure the first-round bye if they win against Oakland Raiders this week. They had a scare the previous week as New York Giants came within inches of victory but Packers held on to win the game.
Aaron Rodgers is the engine that keeps the Packers juggernaut moving. The quarterback has a NFL high 70.6% pass completion rate as he covered 3,844 passing yards. He has also created an astonishing 37 passing touchdowns and has
only five interceptions.
If Rodgers continues his phenomenal performance, the Raiders defence has no chance. The Raiders defence was decimated by Miami Dolphins last week in a 34-14 loss. As the Packers have a far impressive offensive line up, the Raiders
will be in for a rough night.
Raiders Coach Hue Jackson is aware of the challenge his team faces on Sunday and believes that the Packers are the team to beat this season.
”It's going to be a great challenge but that's what the NFL is all about. I mean these challenges don't get any easier, they get harder and the teams you play are better and that's why we need to make sure we become better and
accept these challenges and go play well."
Oakland had their three game winning streak snapped the past week with the defeat to Miami Dolphins, and based on their performance in Florida the Raiders are likely to struggle to score points.
Quarterback Carson Palmer had a poor showing in Florida completing just 20 out of 41 attempted passes for 273 yards. He found some joy in the fourth quarter throwing two touchdown passes.
Green Bay’s defence on the pass is poor ranking 31st overall giving the opposition 292.8 yards per game but that statistic is more than offset by the Packers offense which is scoring an average of 35 points per game.
A Packers victory is more than likely on the cards as Raiders lack the offensive momentum to outscore the Packers on their home ground.
