Pakistani team’s Captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, has reiterated that captaincy is not an issue for him and is the discretion of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board, while the veteran can only focus on his own performance.
The 37-year-old batsman shared that he assesses and plays the games as they come and tries to focus on his form with the bat rather than planning http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-James-Muchall-c60376 ahead.
He stressed that one can only become a good captain if he can deliver with his own form, which sets the example for rest of the team mates.
He commented, "It is the [individual] performance that can help you keep your place in the team or can enable you to retain captaincy. Therefore, everyone should concentrate on producing a prolific [individual] show."
Misbah was cornered for quite a while before he was appointed as the Test Captain to the surprise of many critics, but he became the back bone of the team ever since he was assigned the new role.
He has played 25 Test matches for Pakistan and scored 1640 runs at an average of 44.32 runs, with three centuries and 11 fifties.
The aged veteran led Pakistan to a 1-0 Test victory against NewZealand, earlier this year, which was an overseas victory for the Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 after quite a long time.
Before the recent http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011, the selection of a captain for the national team was an issue before the PCB. Misbah and Afridi were under consideration, however, it was Afridi who was later assigned the role, just days before the commencement
of the mega event.
However, Misbah became the leading scorer for Pakistan in the tournament, scoring 248 runs at an average of 49.60.
Misbah, who has taken part in 78 One Day International matches and scored 2225 runs, insisted that his focus is on contributing with individual performances rather than looking for the World Cup 2015, "Frankly speaking, I have never thought whether my career
will continue till the next World Cup [2015] as it's too far to dwell."
"No one can predict even about tomorrow, while the next World Cup is four years away,” he added.
