So I am having my period and my mom doesn't know. I have some pads and tampons (but I do not know how to use a tampon). But I have to go to the beach tomorrow and I will most likely have to go into the water. What can I do?? HELP!!

  1. You need to first let your mom know that you started your period.  Let her know that you need to talk to her privately about something personal.  Then when you get to another room let her know that your period has started.

As for the going to the beach to swim you will only be able to use a tampon but you will have to talk to your mom about that to see if she says it's ok for you to do and then let her know you need help in learning how to work with tampons if she says it's ok to use tampons.

  2. okay you're definitely gonna need a tampon.  here's how you put it in:

okay, first, relax!  second, sit on the toilet, with your feet together and knees apart.  then, put the tampon up there.  once its in there a little, put it towards your lower back.  when your fingers hit your body, hold the tampon with your left hand and push the applicator in with your right hand.  then remove.  it shouldn't hurt at first, but may be uncomfortable.  sitting really helped me when i first started :]  make sure to bring extra tampons when you go!

    hope i helpeddd(:!

  3. you should tell your mom first of all, and using a tampon isnt that difficult, just read the directions itll take practice though, and if you still dont know how to use the tampons, just go in without the pad

  4. read the box and it will tail you what to do

  5. You have pretty much two options.

Put a pad in your swim suit and don't get wet.

Or, put a tampon in and then you can swim. It's really easy to do and there are directions in the box. It might take a couple of times to get it right, but once you do, you are gonna be sooo thankful it's in!! Tampons are a girl's bestfriend, trust me!

Plus, you should tell your mom.

  6. You could use the tampon but as soon as your out of the water make sure you change it. The water absorbs into the tampon. As far as using it the instructions in the box are easy to follow.

  7. To swim, you need a tampon. If you get in the water with a pad or without anything, when you get out, you will bleed and everyone will see it! Tampons are easy, just read the directions and do one as a practice to see how they work before you try to actually put one in.

  8. Look at the package directions for the tampons.  It has a diagram of how to insert them.

Just remember tampons have to be removed and changed regularly (about every 4 hours) to avoid a rare but potentially fatal condition called toxic shock syndrome.

Here is a link about pads and tampons, and another one about inserting tampons.

It would be best if you could discuss all this with your Mum.  She will probably want to help you.

    Have a nice swim!

  9. Just talk to mum. You think she doesnt know.. but she does your laundry. She is probably just waiting for you to ask her some questions.

As for dying from using tampons.. this is called toxic shock... you need to change your tampon every 4 hours or so. (I dont know how often.. depends on your flow... but you don't leave the same one in for days)

  10. I'm honestly not trying to scare you..but talk to your mom!!!!!!!!!  Women although RARE can die from tampons....i went to school with a girl who did...it was really sad.  we were in 9th grade,  90 % of our homeroom went to the funeral home and spent the day there...guys and girls.  Even a huge portion of the older class went to either the day visitation or the night service.  but, you need to know all the FACTS!!!!!!!!  I very seldom use a tampon-even the small ones kill me.
