Period like cramps, 5 dpo, 2 weeks before period due??? What is it?

Hey everyone, just a simple question, hopefully you can help me out.

Hubby and I have been TTC for several months. This month we were very good about trying on my most fertile days.

I am 5 dpo (I ovulate earlier in the cycle), and I am due for my period September 12th (a little less than 2 weeks) but I am experiencing mild period like cramps and bloated feeling, and light headaches. I usually don't get the cramps until the day before my period, and the first 2 days of my period. And they are usually stronger than what I feel now. And I am always on time for my period, so I know it won't be 2 weeks early.

Also I get mild twinges distinctly to the right, or left when I ovulate, so I know this isn't it. This is a more centered, period like cramping and pressure.

I don't want to test until I know for sure that I missed my period, as I don't want to be too hopeful.

Has anyone else experienced this, and what was the cause of it?

Thanks everyone!

  1. I am sooo with you, I am having the same thing at 7 dpo, it's kind of like cramps but a heavy feeling on my uterus, I had this with both of my last two kids so I think it's a good sign sweetie. I swear, I took a test at 5 dpo and saw an extremely faint line on a super sensative test from on line but I am going to wait a few days. Also I have been eating everything that is either pasta or pizza...lol

  2. I experienced slight tummy cramp 7 DPO on & off even until now(I normally get cramp a couple of days before AF arrives). I tested positive 4 days after AF was due on Sat gone. It could be very well you are preggo, baby dust

  3. If you're positive this isn't ovulation, there is a chance that it could be cysts. I have a friend who went through the exact same thing. She had to see a doctor about 5 times before they finally discovered it was cysts rather than her ovulating. So, if you go to a doctor and they tell you you're ovulating, ask them to check you for cysts as well. The painful cramp like feeling may be the cysts bursting, which is what it was with my friend. These kind of cysts are generally harmless, they can just be painful.
