ok, i have no idea when im gonna get my period. i started 8 months ago, this would be my 9th period. for the last 4 months, i only had 2 periods, each with a month in between. i didnt get my period last month. it should come any day now, but knowing my luck, it wont. see, im going to my friends sisters bday party august 2nd and were swimming.of course, im praying my period will be soon, short and sweet. it wont be, bcuz of the whole one month in between thing, it will be heavy

i dont know that i could just not swim, because im used to swimming like every day since school let out, since i havent had my period this summer yet.... plus id be all alone if i didnt swim, or if i didnt go to her party. i kinda want to go bcuz shes turning 16.

im not tht close with my mom, and im scared to ask to use tampons. Plus, im concerned ill leak, if i do use tampons. my friend used them for her first time earlier this month, and said it wasnt that bad, but i dont know..

any advice

  1. Drink soda. Soda stops your period for a while.

  2. Usually if you swim in cool water, it will postpone your period for a while. I'm sure that a tampon will not leak if you use the right size, but if you don't want to ask your mom for one, I would just bring a pad and not get into the water as much as usual.

  3. i would go to the always and tampax websites, they help alot!

  4. Periods are often irregular for the first year or two. If you want to swim you can put a pad in your bikini and just put your legs in , or you can try usung slim tampons and go all the way in the water.. They also have teen tampons. Take your time and practice using them and use a thin liner with it to prevent leaks. Change back toa pad when you are done swimming because the tampon will swell with water. It is probably better if it is not the first heavy day of your period. Maybe the 3rd or 4th day. I am sorry but this is a situation we all have to learn to live with. My periods have never been regular and i never know when it is coming .I always bring my protection with me just in case and it has happened out of the blue many times. Good luck.

  5. okay... no lets start here. first you have to calm down.

now, this happens to all girls. considering the fact that  you just started menstruation 8 months ago...this is normal. there is absolutely no reason why you should be nervous or scared. for about the 1st year and a half to 2 years girls miss periods all the time. they can even come earlier sometimes. after that about 1 1/2- 2 years is over you start developing a steady pace of about 28-30 days for when you will have your next period.

my other advice is to just talk to your mom about the tampons if you feel comfortable enough so you could swim at the party. you will have to do it eventually.

or even if you don't feel comfortable with your mom ask your friend to help you with the tampons for like 2 minutes in her room or bathroom before the party....and it is even a possibility to have her mother help if you feel comfortable...but you may feel that is just not necessary.

don't be embarrassed and i hope i helped.

p.s. everything will be fine. it happens to everyone.

  6. hahahaha, i love it!

sorry, ok im 13, but i have been using tampons since i was 11.

    they are effing goddess's!.

my suggestion, use a tampon, but if you dont, the water pressure will hold it in. it true. but be careful when you get out of the pool,

ummmm, not much left to tell you

    good luck

  7. Tampons won't leak if you put them in right...and if you're afraid to ask your Mom for tampons, borrow one from your friend before you go swimming. They're not bad at all. You can't even feel them.
