Period question, just wondering?

So, I got my period this morning and I'm going swimming in my aunt's pool this afternoon, and tampons aren't my thing. I've tried but they just don't work for me. So, I was wondering if it's okay for me to go swimming? Since my flow is light and all, just wondering. Thanks

  1. its not the most hygenic thing to do but i guess you could if its really light. i suggest giving tampons another try though. try the really small ones

  2. I'm not a big tampon person either, but I use a loght flow one when I go swimming. And the nice thing is that your flow stops when you are in the water, so as long as you are careful, you should be fine. I have been swimming with my period plenty of times, so it is all right.

  3. You should be fine... Just beware of cramps and embarrassing red spots in the water. Maybe you should try a small, light absorbency tampon just for swimming.

  4. if it's really light, then i guess you could try, but if it's normal to heavy - don't do it unless you're gonna use a tampon. don't believe it when people tell you that being in water stops your period. it's just a myth. being in water may help relieve cramps because of the temperature difference, but it won't stop your period from continuing like normal. keep trying to use tampons. just because they don't work now, doesn't mean they'll never work for you. i thought the same thing when i first started using tampons, but it takes a lot of time and practice to get the hang of it. the frustration and patience is worth it though!!! tampons are soooo much more comfortable!!!!!!

  5. if its almost bearly there then it should be ok, but if you have a pretty good flow i wouldnt sugest it. try a small tampon when you swim. i have also heard that when you get in water that your period stops, i dont know how true that it...maybe someone else can help with that...
