Period question after a baby?

six months ago I had an e-mergency c-section and my periods had been pretty normal. And this month I started spotting a week before actually getting my period, also my period is early I guess I officially started yesterday (june 10th) but today (11th) it is very heavy (about as heavy as when I came home after having the baby) and now I am cramping. Oh also before I started spotting I was experiencing pain on the left side of where my incision is (I don't know if this has anything to do with anything) Another thing, I don't usually spot unless it's when it's stopping, but never before..

Is this normal, or do periods just and get all wierd after having a baby?

I do have a doctors appt. but it's not till the 26th - so I'll have to wait

  1. A good rule of thumb with pregnancy, with your entire body in mind, is 9 months up, 9 months down. It will take 9 months to a year following delivery (no matter whether vaginal or c-section) for your body to return to normal. Your hormones will be all over the place, and you will most likely not have regular periods until your body gets a chance to settle back down. In the meantime, voice your concerns to your doctor when you go for your appointment, and make sure you're not overdoing it...try to make time to relax, you've earned it! Being a mommy is a tiring job! :) Good luck!
