  1. The bleeding just after giving birth is not actually your period - that is postpartum bleeding, which can last up to 6 weeks for some moms.

Yes, you can have irregular perioed for awhile after giving birth.  Also, you may not get periods like you always have because your body needs to readjust and find a new normal.  So if you've always had a 6 day period before getting pregnant and now get 3 day periods, that could very well be normal now  :)

  2. This is completely normal - in fact, you're one of the LUCKY ones.

I had 4 weeks of constant bleeding, then nothing for a couple of months while breastfeeding and then when I started getting periods again ... UGH! I went through more pads than a 13 year old with a DD bra to stuff. One every two hours at least - for seven or eight days straight. I finally went on a tri-cyclic pill to even it out, as a regular 28 day pill didn't even get the job done. I am just now on my second regular period and my son is less than a month from his first birthday.

So basically, if it is more or less, don't worry. If you are breastfeeding it will probably remain light or not at all. If it is too troublesome, a birth control pill (if you aren't breastfeeding) might help even it out and regulate it some - from my experience the BCP available for breastfeeding moms don't do a very good job since you have to take them right at the exact minute of the day to be effective.

  3. It is completely normal for them to be irregular, especially if you are nursing. It takes time for your body to heal. Hang in there. If it isn't normal after 6 months or so, I would give your doctor a call. Congrats on having a new little one.

  4. totally normal. sometimes it takes a while for your body to get back to normal. a lot of people do find themselves regulated already after about 2 months, but everyone's different. it's still normal if you're a bit irregular for even 6 months. just give it some time.
