Question:

Periods during pregnancy- If I were to do a pregnancy test, would my hcg levels be high enough to be detected?

I've been feeling ill and horrible for a while now, with no tests showing anything wrong, and the only thing I think it could be is accidental pregnancy, but I have had 3 very regular periods.

I know it's really rare to keep having periods during pregnancy but if you do sometimes it's because the HCG levels are so low your periods don't stop.. Does that mean that if I am pregnant and I did a urine test it wouldn't show up?

My current period is really light, but I think that might be partly because I've been worrying about being pregnant for the last few weeks!

And how common are periods during pregnancy, does anyone know any statistics?

  1. I think you answered your own question in a way.  I think your periods are probably a little messed up because you are so obsessed with thinking you could be pregnant.   I really think that you are experiencing possible pms or perhaps you have an ovarian cyst or endometriosis. This type of question can be best answered by a dr visit.  If your periods are so bad that it is a distruption in your life, you may need some medical intervention whether that be stronger meds such as Naproxin to ease the cramps or perhaps even a laparoscopy to test for endometriosis.  Highly doubt you are pregnant.

Regular periods during pregnancy don't happen. Bleeding during pregnancy can happen and that is a sign of a problem.
