Perks of Being a Wallflower?

I borrowed the book from the library for summer reading and returned it but I forgot to write down a part.

Does any one know what Charlie's father tells him I think in the very beginning. I think it was his advice.

  1. I'm not sure if this is it, but his dad says to him on page 28 (of my copy of the book), "Not everyone has a sob story, Charlie, and even if they do, it's no excuse."

It's referring to the part where right after Charlie's Dad talks to the parents of Charlie's sisters boyfriend (basically, the talk was about keeping their son away from his daughter. since the boyfriend hit her). Charlie started asking questions to his father about whether or not the boyfriend's parents hit him and/or if he had other problems at home. This is when his Dad said that line.

I hope this helps. Goodluck with your summer reading. If this wasn't the advice or quote you were looking for, tell me... and I'll look more. Or, if you need more lines for the advice! Just edit/add details to your question and I'll respond.
