  1. Five years residence is the minimum before you can apply. Marrying a Japanese is an excellent first step because then you can be entered on his or her family register. There is such a thing as adult adoption in Japan, so in theory you could be single and become let's say..your boss's son and be entered into his register. You need to go about this one step at a time so the first step is impeccable record keeping-your transcripts, your financal records, your employment history, letters of reference-keep them all in order. You have to be able to prove you will be an asset to Japanese society so you need a paper trail of your entire life.

Being an elite athelete seems to work as well in the case of such people as Ramos and Konishiki, but they have families as well.

  2. 1, Get working visa (usually requires college degree)

2, Keep living in Japan for 5-10 years (usually 10 year).

3, Then you will be eligible for permanent residence.

But if you want to get permanent residence, you need stable job, enough saving, basic language skill, sufficient reason and so on.

  3. Marry a Japanese citizen. And then it will still take at least 5 years or more. No joke. Even then, I don't think you're considered a "citizen".

Japan is a VERY hard place to move to. If it were easy, I would be there right now myself.

You just can't move there. You need a four year degree to qualify for a work visa.

Sorry, but that's how it is. They don't allow people to just muscle their way in like they do here in the US.
