I am a Guyanese with Permanent Residency in Canada and my Fiancee is living in Guyana, How can I sponsor her to come there, or would it be easy for me to send her a letter of invitation , and If she is granted a visa is it possible, I can marry her after she arrives in Canada? And would she be entitled to apply for Permanent Residency (PR). Thank you in advance for the assistance in answering my question/s.

  1. you need to apply to sponsor here on a spouse visa

  2. hmm... seeing as you are her fiance... the immigration officials will probably deny her for a tourist visa unless she can provide enough proof that she will not stay in canada and will actually go back to guyana. but seeing as your intentions is for her to stay there, then i would say she'll definitely not be getting a tourist visa.

you can marry her in canada but it doesn't give her any right to stay in the country and have her papers processed there. she still needs to go back to guyana and wait there for her permanent residency.

if you were a canadian citizen, it might work out the way you planned it... but as a permanent resident, you don't have these privileges.

so play by the rules and have your fiance go back to guyana.

  3. If her tourist visa is approved, you can marry her in Canada if she brings all the necessary documentation and ahs never been married before.  Talk to a marriage commissioner in your area about that so that you know what you need to do.

She may not be able to stay in Canada when she comes as a visitor, but once you are married you can start the application process for permanent residency.  She can apply for an extension of her six month visitor's visa before it expires, and once she has made that application she can stay in Canada legally until she has a response to that request.

This may be a situation where you should consult an immigration lawyer just to get a clear idea of what your options are.  Using a lawyer will not make anything happen faster, but it will make sure that you are following the correct process.

Best of luck with your plans.

  4. hi there

i went through the same with my wife the best and the fastest is to do the the sponsorship papers while she's outside canada that will speedup the process of the application because you are a part .immigration canada like to join marrid or engajed as soon as possible.

it took our application only 4 months.

    good luck
