Permanent resident leaving the UK...tax refunds?

I am leaving the UK soon for good and I hold a permanent resident visa. Will i be able to reclaim taxes ive paid over the 3 years while working here?

  1. Yes, on leaving the UK all your previous taxes are repaid by HMRC with interest (currently at at 7% p.a). There is also a bonus for the number of years you were a resident tax payer, plus a discount on any future taxation should you choose to return to the UK again.


    On anouncing to the authorities that you wish to leave the UK, a family will typically receive a lump sum cash payment as incentive to change ones mind (currently this is around 15 K)
