Question:

Permission for a house party!?

by  |  earlier

My mums going away for the weekend at the end of this month and I have been given permission to have a house party.

Obviously I am thrilled. However, this will be my first proper house party. I have quite a big house with 3 beds, 2 baths a HUGE garden and large living room/dinind room and a medium size kitchen.

Now, I want to invite about 30-40 people but am worried that something bad will happen, also I only have £30 - £40 to spend on the party. WIll this be enough for alcohol and food?

I dont mind if people crash at my house as I want us all to get wasted but I am very worried incase its rubbish. What can I do to make sure i have a hefty supply of alcohol and a great time?

  1. 30 - 40 people and you are worried something bad will happen? dont worry, it WILL HAPPEN!

there are too many people for you to watch.

  2. why not put your address here on yahoo with a strict instruction to bring some beer with you and then get a big lad on the door who takes the beer but tells us all to clear off

  3. As a boring old ***** I would have to warn you not to advertise this on the internet  and at least have a plan of what to do when it gets out of hand. From experience with youngsters I personally know of two cases where over £5000 worth of damage was done.  Unless it is strictly controlled with adults presents this is ripe for disaster.  You have been warned!!

  4. Well, first i'd advise you to tell them to bring alcohol, shouldn't be that difficult to get some bottles of beer or something. So if you really invite about 40 people you surely WILL have enough alcohol, that's for sure! :)

Second thing, yea, breaking things that are kinda important to your parents would suck... so better lock them somewhere and put the key where NOONE finds it, or they're going to have fun with it if they're REALLY wasted! Believe me, I'm afraid I made a bad experience with an expensive African mask...it end up burning in the garden, wasn't quite nice for me after mum found out it's been my fault!

£40 sounds at least enough for a bit alcohol and food, as I don't think you want to make a buffett but a getting-wasted-party, so people won't eat that much will they?

And the more people, the less is the chance of your party getting boring, just put some good music on, make them get drunk and PARTY. :D

Well that's my advice, hope I helped you a bit.

  5. BYOB you can buy some still but BYOB is a good way to go

  6. tell people to BYOA (bring your own alcohol) but have a small stash also. tell everyone to invite friends and bring music. you should spend the majority of your money of food like chips and pizza. aslo, buy plastic cups have a table big enough to play beer pong and other drinking games. look for games online to play. as long as you invite people notorious for partying, they will keep the fun going and you will have nothing to worry about.

  7. I think you should ask people who you are inviting to bring a bottle of alcohol and ask for other small things you need. For a party you don't really need to spend that much all you have to really pay for is the alcohol and cups. So Just ask people

  8. i dont know how much that is in us dollar but get as much alcohol as you can and food and you will be fine. the entertainment will come from the wasted guests lol have fun

  9. How old are you, that makes a difference... tell people it is BYOB. But, if they are underage, and drive drunk after your party, your parents can get charged and sued.  Make sure you know the people you are inviting, because nobody will treat your home as good as their own.

  10. Get people to bring alcohol aswell!!!!!

  11. BYOB

  12. Buy strong hard alcohol and coca cola.  Make sure people bring there own beer or take a collection for a keg.  Tell your friend to come DJ.  Invite some wealthy people.  Hide the toilet paper rolls so no one puts them down the toilet.  Don't feed the dog so you can use him to kick people out.  Go to your girls house and borrow some chips and plastic cups.   Sell pot to make more money.

  13. Hi

Not sure its a good idea to invite so many people, don't advertise either. Your mum is trusting you to have this party and therefore you should respect her/your house.

I don't think you should buy booze for everyone. It will encourage people to be irresponsible. The cheapest place to buy booze is probably Aldi or Lidl.  Buy some sodas cheap there also. And cheap snacks/crisps.

You will have to make sure noone smokes in your house and make sure you have the bedrooms locked. Valuables and breakables hidden. People come to your house you don't know could be potential thieves if they see something they like. Why not do a karaoke?

Sorry to sound like a bit of a party pooper, I just know from experience!

    Enjoy! Have Fun

  14. The rule is u bing ur own - u supply the food and get a bit of drink - mainly mixers and ppl bring there own - they cant expect u 2 supply there drink too - make sure u get something for yourself too!!

  15. spend the money on booze and tell everyone to bring a six pack or some wine etc...dont freak out about the mess that WILL happen, just get up early and be prepared to clean up alone.

  16. Get a crate of beer and a few bottle of cheap spirit, and tell the others to bring more...

Hide or put away expensive items, vases, glasses, pictures etc...

Tell everyone if they break something you'll break them...

Have music playing constantly and play drinking games all night...

I miss those days so very, very much.

  17. this has juvenile court written all over it.

  18. Ask people to bring some with them?

Just do your best, its a house party not a meal for the queen! They won't be expecting loads!

    Good luck

  19. Ask Kid N' Play.

  20. Go to netto :P

Or just ask some friends to chip in?

  21. you must be mad, people can get out of hand. last one i went to got crashed by lunatics who were going round cutting peoples hair and branding them with hot pokers. good luck.

  22. Only invite people that you know have respect for your domain(even though they'll bring people with them, they won't likely bring people that they don't trust to respect your house, ya dig) and tell your closer friends to bring a bottle or something. Like a pot luck. We did that and it was plenty to go around. And good friends will help clean up after you guys wake up. Also when people are drunk at a party, the music cannot stop, that is a recipe for trouble, irritation. My advice is an iPod(or mp3 player) with a party playlist that you and some close friends put together beforehand. If you don't have some, buy an a/v cord that connects the mp3 player to  a home theater reciever or big screen with loud speaks.

  23. Charge an admission fee and the fee is to bring a bottle of alcohol Beverage or Party Tray of Food....  You will have plenty of all types of food and drinks.    No one should have a problem with that, when you are supplying the house and music.  So then take your money and buy more decorations and treats for your guests.

  24. Uhhh... you can ask a few friends to chip in and each person bring some of their own alcohol. That's how we kick it. You buy the food, they buy the drinks... and make sure to burn CDs/have mp3 player playlists ready. That's the worst thing that can happen at a party- you run out of music.

  25. You better watch how many people you invite, With everyone drinking things could get out of control. Like fights could break out, people could break stuff that mean alot to your mom, And if things get to out of control your mums might not trust you to do it again.

  26. I think to start with, you shouldn't really be buying people alcohol, as the party may end up turning into a free for all, and that may ruin your night (and potentially your house).

Tell your friends/party invitees to bring money/alcohol to go towards more alcohol.

good music is always a plus, and comfortable sitting areas.

    Hopefully it will be good!

I dont think that 30-40 pound will be enough for food and drink. to be honest, i think it is a bad idea to be mixing too much food with drink (im sure you can imagine what the outcome could be) just get a few nibbly things.

I hope this has been of some use to you - -

    Have a good party :)

  27. If your inviting 30-40 people, things in your house will be ruined there's no doubt about it.

I'm not familiar with the British currency, but last time when my friend had a house party she spent about $175 on just alcohol, and people brought food.

And if your inviting 30-40 expect 15 more people to come because people usually bring friends

  28. Ask your mums

  29. Just tell people what parts of the house are off limits like your mom's bedroom and the her bathroom (if she has her own) is off limits, go as far as locking the door to her room, because when people are drunk they will go into any room to puke or pass out. Also if you feel like you might not have enough money for drinks, tell people it's b.y.o.b.

  30. BYOB but 30-40 isnt enough!!!! maybe for about 5 ppl

  31. have you not seen the papers recently with young people who have thrown a party in their parents absence and those invited tell their Friends who then tell their friends and then someone puts in on a website and 100's turn up and trash the house!!!!

I would be very careful about how you tell people about this party and who comes.  Do you really want tob e cleaning up other people's vomit the next day or changing you mum and dads sheets and throwing away condoms cos people have been having s*x in their (and your) bed.

Cigarette burns, broken furniture, annoyed neighbours, police calling.........

    What fun!!!!!
