Pernilla Lindberg improves game but yet to end victory drought
Swedish Pernilla Lindberg might have blown every chance to win her first Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tournament so far, but she has now appears to have got her hopes up after
a magical performance at the Navistar LPGA Classic 2012.
Driven by a desire to end her victory drought this season, Lindberg took part at the Navistar LPGA Classic with a clear mind as she had vowed to finish strong.
She displayed a solid performance in all the four rounds of the tournament, held at Prattville, Alabama, United States, but the last round saw the LPGA phenom show her best form as she fired
a 67 to cement her position on the leaderboard.
Getting off to a fine start that saw her score a 70 in the opening round on Thursday, Lindberg knew the tournament’s first two rounds were crucial and she could only carve out a success if
she avoided making bogeys.
Observers said that although the Swedish golfer could not put an end to her winning drought at Prattville, a good performance has at least helped her stay focused on the game and she is keen
to fix flaws in her strokes.
Now that Lindberg has set the ball rolling, she looks all ready to make a much-needed winning start heading into the 2013 season — although she has had to live with several disappointing finishes
since turning professional in 2009.
In addition to making an effort on the LPGA Tour, Lindberg has also been trying to prove her mettle on the Ladies European Tour (LET). Although she has not been able to record a victory on
the LET so far, she has done well in several events, which reflects the star golfer has not given up yet.
“I felt like I've been working pretty hard on my game for the last couple of months. In June, I felt that my game was going in the right direction, but I didn't get the scores out,” she recently
said while talking to the LET in one of her interviews.
“My putting has gotten a lot better over the last two years. I switched to a belly putter two years ago, and it's been helping my game a lot”.
