Pernilla Lindberg makes progress in 2012
Swedish Pernilla Lindberg thinks the 2012 season was much better than the last year because she was able to fix some persistent flaws in her game.
Lindberg, who has been playing on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour since 2010, has shown the golfing world that she will continue to rattle rivals in the foreseeable future.
However, winning the first LPGA tournament of her career is still Lindberg’s biggest goal, as the star golfer has been pushing herself to the limit in a bid to hoist a much-wanted trophy.
While the media glossed over below-average performances by players like Lindberg and other little-known contenders in the 2012 LPGA season, big names remained in the headlines for their game—either
good or bad.
Although Lindberg failed record a single top-ten finish in the year, she has managed to improve her game to a greater extent.
The LPGA Tour recently caught up with the Swede and asked a range of questions regarding the recently concluded season. “Progression” was all Lindberg could think of to say when asked what
she has gained in 2012.
She said that she had been troubled about not working up to potential in the 2011 season as she missed out on several good opportunities to prove her worth on the Tour. But the 2012 season,
Lindberg said, has seen her get far better in terms of consistency and confidence.
When it comes to putting and short game, Lindberg clearly has been able to improve a lot. She said that her putting is now more balanced than ever before and she has more control on the ball—no
matter how tough the greens are.
“I will be working on a few things in my swing that I haven't wanted to work on during the season,” said Lindberg whose best performance in the season was recorded at the Navistar LPGA Classic
as she finished tied for the 11th position.
Still, the 26-year-old thinks she has a long way to go before she can compare herself with battle-hardened rivals.
“I analyse the prior season and then figure out what I need to improve and set a new plan and new goals from there”.
