  1. It's around the Newquay area, which isn't my favourite part of Cornwall, and although the pictures look amazing, you will find it doesn't actually look lke that in real life.(probably taken at 5-00 in the morning) Perranporth beach is huge, and boring, with no rock pools, or little nooks and crannies, and no small uninvestigated beaches around, which are much nicer, and much prettier.

Have a read of some of the reports from people who have stayed on this site, I must say, they're not brilliant, but I did warn you.

If you are staying on the huge Haven campsite, beware, as my friends stayed there last year, and they were burgled, Their van was FILTHY, they payed a fortune for eating, and drinking on site, it was noisy, and full of drunks, And they met all the neighbours they had travelled 280 miles to get away from. I tried to warn them of that part of Cornwall, but everyone from "up Country" think Newquay is wonderful, and they wanted to stay there rather than the S.E. coast where I live, which is REALLY gorgeous. If you like somewhere "Blackpoolish" you are in for a treat.

You have probably booked, and paid for your holiday now, but might I suggest when next you come back to Cornwall, you choose to stay around the Fowey, Looe, Polperro, Polruan, Mevagissey area's as they are much prettier, much quieter, and much classier than Perranporth, or the Newquay area's. ALWAYS trust people who live in the area to give you the true run-down.

  2. Yes I have been there for about 6 years running! (I think its spelt Perran sands?) It is very beautiful, there are many sand dunes surronding it which make it a lovley walk to the beach. As perran sands is on a hill, it is an uphill walk back to the camp, but is all worth it when you see the fantastic views up high.

I really love it, the evening entertainment is good and there is a bar which does food as well as a takeaway plus a burger king. Newquay is not a far drive and St Ives is about 45 mins away so there are nice places to visit in the surronding area. If you don't drive the buses pull right into the camp which is handy. Perranporth itself is a great town with a great feel about it, and the beach is great! You can walk to Perranporth from the camp, when the tide is out. I love it there, I wish I was going this year but can't afford it. Have a lovely time! If you would like to ask any questions Id be more than happy to reply, I could talk for ages about Perran sands, its lovely. I have some photos of the nearby town, Perranporth if you'd like to see?

Here is a web address for some photos of the beach-

Regarding the answer from below, Perran sands IS NOT in Newquay, its in Perranporth which does have rock pools, my daughter was swimming in them last year. In fact there was a breath taking rock pool on Perranporth beach, deep enough an adult could actually swim in. Its a very interesting and beautiful beach, the photos in my opinion do not do it justice! As for the camp site being full of drunks, I had no problem what so ever and the chalets and caravans were lovely (even though both chalets I stayed in were privatly owned). I have been 6 times and have always found it a great experience. My Mum lives in Cornwall and visits Perranporth frequently.

May I also add that Perran Sands and many of the holiday parks around Perranporth get booked out very quickly in my experience, even in September it can be hard to find any avalability (I have found this for the last 6 years!). So therefore if its such a popular site, it reflects the fact people recognize it as a lovely place to visit and keep coming back again and again. Out of all the holiday parks in the past Ive phoned they always say what a popular area Perranporth is because it has so much to offer.
