Perseid Meteor Shower: What's the best setting for my Canon Powershot S5 IS?

I already have a velbon tripod. I need suggestions for the best camera settings for my particular camera.

  1. i have a similar camera.  A zoom lens Panasonic, and I plan on using ISO 100, auto white balance, F8 aperture, with a 60 second exposure and just keep taking images.   Note that  dark pictures hardly take up any room on your SD card, so dont freak when you take a image and the number of images left doesn't change.  anyhoo, good luck and post them if they turn out well.


  2. 1.  The lowest magnification.  Each shooting star will be in a different place and you'll never be able to zoom in in time.

    2.  The lowest ISO (I think).  Each shooting star should be bright enough to appear at ISO 80.

    3.  The longest exposure (fifteen seconds).  The stars might leave short trails, but this will minimize your chance of missing a trail.  

    4.  If the continuous shooting mode will work with the long exposures, just use that and leave it running all night.
