Perseid Meteor Shower in Winnipeg, MB, Canada?

Does anyone know how well the viewing of the Perseid Meteor Shower will be in Winnipeg, and when it'll be best to see it? I don't have the option to get out of the city to see it, so I'm hoping to just sit on my roof and watch, will this be possible?

  1. You can try this morning Thursday August 12th 1:10 am (now) or try tomorrow or over the weekend too, best in a dark place like a park. I spotted 4 so far this year. One about 5 or 6 days ago, and 3 about 12:10, two minutes apart, and another about 12:35 am. Look up and all around, they last from a few secs to less then one second. They move West to East or NW to SE, more in the south sky, but straight above as well. Good luck seeing some Perseid Meteors this year.

  2. That was me just there, didn't sign in, got too excited. Google the shower to get more info on the Birds Hill Meeting, hope all this helps!

  3. The Manitoba Astrological (spelling? lol) society is holding THEIR viewing event out at Birds Hill Park just outside Winnipeg on saturday evening starting at sundown (around 8:15 this time of year). The BEST time to view is tonight (August 12) (or this morning really) between the sun going down (8:15) and the moon coming up (10:30) so there is a nice window of 2 hours or so that you will be seeing a spectacle, after that it will continue on every evening until the weekend but will be sparse in comparison, also viewing from the city just won't happen, we have WAY too many bums here to turn those lights off at night lol hope this helps.
