I'm not familiar with all the constellations, etc, etc..which all the technical sites tell you, to give you direction. Can anyone say in

layman's terms what direction to look to best see it from the northeast US?? Also, is it correct that its best at 2am?

  1. Observers on the U.S. West Coast will likely get the best view of the peak "just before dawn on August 12". People who want to see the largest number of meteors possible should find the "darkest sky available and face northeast", where the meteors will appear to come from.

This is the calendar site for the meteor showers for 2008 from the International Meteor Organization. Everything you ever wanted to know about meteor showers is on this site. Enjoy!
