  1. I'd either hit the beach down in the state park area between St. Aug and Ponte Vedra or head west down I-10 to the National Forest. A bonus on the latter is that the local astronomy group sometimes shows up there in force with some very nice equipment that they allow other people to look thru.

  2. While the shower peaked yesterday, it's not too late.  I saw Perseid meteors last Saturday, and expect to see some this weekend as well.  About an hour after sunset is good. There's supposed to be more after midnight, but i did not experience that this year. The darker the skies the better.  Best of luck.

You don't need to bring meteor soap to a meteor shower.

  3. this meteor shower will be slightly hard to see because of the moons brightnes but it was its strongest this morning from 1am until the sun came up. you can try again tonight but again, it doesnt peak until after midnight. the beach is a terrible spot, too much light in the area. if your serious about watching it go to the mountians or find somewhere very dark in your town. if you cant see a lot of stars by the time it gets dark then its too light where you are

  4. Basically, whenever the stars come up.  The very best time to see the shooting stars is around 3-4 A.M, when the Moon has set and the skey is vacant of light.

  5. Anytime after midnight should be OK but the later the better because the radiant point (the area of the sky where the meteors come from) rises higher as the night progresses and the moon sinks lower. The shower is past its peak, but you should still see about 80% as many meteors as you would have seen last night. You need to look towards the north east, so from the beach, you would be looking towards the city lights, which is not ideal. A dark spot west of the city might be better.
