Perseids meteor shower peak?

Question

I plan to get up early in the morning to watch the Perseids shower. However, I'm not sure when it is! I know it peaks on the 12th, but is that the morning (so the night of 11th to the 12th) or is it it the night of the 12th to 13th?

All the websites I've looked at say different things. I realise I can go look both nights, but it would be great if anyone knows which night would be best to see the peak of the showers.
