  1. He was going to the bathroom during the singing of God Bless America. He was stopped by NYPD Officers while trying to enter the bathroom who said that no one is allowed in the bathrooms while God Bless America is being sung. That is Yankee Stadium's rule so you have to respect it. The man replied with I don't care about God Bless America and thats where the cop detained him and kicked him out of the stadium.

  2. I read this story on Yahoo sports but can't find it now.  To the best of my recollection, it went something like this:  During the 7th inning stretch, "God Bless America" was being played. A man needed to use the restroom.  Apparently, by stadium rules, you aren't allowed to move around during the song. This rule is enforced by ushers, security & NYC police.  Well the guy didn't know this and was heading for the toilet when he was stopped by 2 NYC cops. They told him to stand still during the song, he replied that he didn't care about the song.  The cops twisted both arms behind his back and escorted him to the street and told him to get out of the country.

My opinion -- "God Bless America" while being a great patriotic song, is not the national anthem.  I see people disrespect the anthem all the time at games.  Seems they feel if they are in the concourse, it doesn't need to be observed.  I can't imagine that this guy was the ONLY person moving around in a sold out Yankee Stadium at this time.  This is just 2 cops enforcing a rule at a whim, like littering or spitting on the sidewalk.  Did the guy break the rule?  Yes.  But the level of "enforcement" was over the top.  Just my opinion.

PS  the guy is from the Queens and not a Red Sox fan

  3. And you dare to refer to yourselves as the land of the free?

A couple of bored cowboy cops from the sound of it.

  4. um that didnt happen, yankee stadium is not that strict, probly because he was useing it in the stands

  5. Hmm, havent heard of this story yet.

Well im sure its not in the public bathrooms, because theres still ppl walking about in the stands and buying food when the athem is being sung.  And what, would security check all the bathrom sin the stadium and yank everyone else out.  And if so, im sure it would be more than one person.

Im sure the guy was urinating in the stands which is prohibited anytime during the game.

  6. NYC's version of AMERIKA.

  7. I really don't know what to think. There's no reason to believe he wasn't being patriotic.

He wasn't screaming during the song. I read the article on yahoo. Apparently, he got up from his seat during the stretch to go to the bathroom. Then, a couple of off duty cops followed him and asked him "why did he got up". He said 'it's only God Bless America".

I quess what happened then was one of them grabbed him and slammed him against a wall.

I don't know if it matters, but I like Ronan Tynan's version of God Bless America better. They hardly ever play it. I can't stand the Kate Smith recording (version they play most of the time).

  8. What?  When did this happen?

    Link?

  9. He was kicked out for trying to leave during the singing of "God Bless America"...I guess it is an unwritten rule at Yankee Stadium that you can't leave during the singing of "God Bless America"...the cops tried to say he was drunk, standing on his seat, and yelling obscenities during the singing but people that were there said that wasn't true...my opinion: that is probably the dumbest rule I have ever heard of.

  10. it definatly wasnt in the bathroom, so I guess it was in the stands
