Personal electronic device and customs?

Hi,

Is there any site out there on internet summarising custom regulations for different countries regarding temporary import of personal electronic devices during a short visit of say one week?

I am interested in

-PC

-Digital camera

-GPS

-Handycam

-Mobile phone.

I've travels quite some and never had problems.

However, I recently read about several cases in coutries such as Germany.

Businessmen passing "nothing to declare - green" with their work laptop, which every businessmen do nowadays. Since they passed on "green" they had to pay penalty. Easy earned money for German state, since everybody does that!

Maybe the customs officer was in bad mood but you want to avoid such situations if possible.

I understand GPS can have other rules than just bringing in...

Link or any other info appreciated. Thanks.

  1. hallo,

    you can use this link

  2. most of the time it wouldn't be any problem, just declare it if you bring laptop with you, but it shouldn't be a problem if it's only digital camera, handycam or mobile phone, except if you bring them in a large amount.

You could always the country's policy in custom regulation from their website.
