Question:

Personal favorite?

I like to experiment with different loads from my 30-06 each deer season, and I was thinking of trying the Rem. core-lokt 180 grain round nose. Has anyone used this on whitetail? If not, what is your personal favorite. Might I add that I hunt in the thicks, and wouldn't shoot over 120 yards.

  1. they are the deadliest mushrooms in the woods out of my 30-06 on black bear down and in 180 grain they are especially the deadliest mushrooms for whitetail and i suggest hogdon h10000 powder and cci large rifle bench rest primers #Br2 and this load is very crisp shooting and extremely accurate at 150 yards and less so it is perfect for your hunting situation

  2. I use either the 180 or 220 soft point for maximum results in Remington core-lokt. You will find these the best to use.*

  3. Think about loading Hornady 110 grain VMax for some coyote action. I don't know what powders you like but look here: http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.a...

  4. I shoot 150 grain silver tip ballistics....I shot an 8 point last year in hard woods at 150 yards.  They are an awsome bullet

  5. I use a 180 grain round every time I go deer hunting, but it is out of a .303. It is somewhat different, but not much.

  6. With ammo costs so high, I think I'd buy one type of ammo and stick with it.

At 120 yards max it's not like you need good accuracy. Corelocks or Powerpoints (my favorite) will be fine.

The 180 roundnose corelocks are fine

Personally I like the Powerponit brand.

    Either way you're fine.

  7. You have chosen a excellent round for whitetails. Given you hunt in the brush you may want to opt for using a 200 grain. Less deflection and more shock power. I hate tracking them through all that undergrowth so put em down quick.

  8. i shoot 150's

  9. Core-locked are an excellent choice. This is suitable  for your given distance and reasonable in price.
