any way on to the questions

1, hes been really kinda shy lately he loves when i hold him but hes under his hide every second!

2, every time i feed him i just open his cage and take out his hide for a minute, does that upset him

3. is it beter to hold him, or leave him alone.

4. his cage is next to a tarancula, they can see each other, does this stress/ scare him.

5. he sits in his water bowl and just stares out his cage at the wall. why?

6. his cage is always about 80 degress he has a light on top and a heating matt, is that okay?

7. and i gave him 3 small crickets to day and later on 1 large one. how much do i normaly feed him.

  1. 1) its completely normal fo any new anima to be a little shy at first especially when they first come home. unless he loses tons on weight and refuses to eat, i would not worry about it.

    2) when feeding all you have to do  is feed him dusted gutloaded crcikets approprietly sied of course to him. theres no need to move his hide or anything. he will hunt them out on his own. they are noctunal too just remember so he will be hunting at night.

3)Since you just brought him home, you might want to leave him alone for a day or two, just so he can learn his new envionment. handling a new leo too much can cause him to get stressed.

4)it depends. the tarantula might be scaring him as some tarantulas do prey on geckos in the wildhttp://southfloridadaily.com/wp-content/...

it might be a good idea to move the cage or put a blockage betweent he two to prevent the baby form being stressed and intimidated byt the tarantuala:)

5)make sure there is not to much heat and that there is a hot and cool end to his enclosure so that he can thermoregulate. he might be trying to cool down or he might be trying to loosen up his skin so that its easier to shed.

    6) is the light on top a heat lamp? is so its really unessesary and the heat pad is suffiecient enough. if its just a plain flourecent light like those used in aquariums then it shoul be fine. u could even try investing in a red or blue light bulb so u can observe your leo at night while he hunts:)

7)it depend on his age and size. by 18 months leos are normally full grown and they can feed on adult crickets. but juveniles oftn sold in stores are very small and can often eat only pin heads. prey items should be no longer than the legth of the head and half of the width of the head. for starter juvies should be fed 4-6 gutloaded crickets daily dusted with multivitamin supplement 2-3 times a week and the other days o the week u should dust them with calcium but neve ron the same days. if he finishes all of those crickets give him a coupl more but watch for all hose leftovers. they might try to bite your leo back:)

p.s make sure there are two hides on each end of then enclosure and pleese don use sand as a substrate use plain repticarpt, tile, newspaper,or paper towel instead. i have heard of way too many stories of leos dying bc of impaction and i would hate fo that to happen to your juvenile leo.

i hope all of this answers ur questions. if u need any more info please don hesitate to contact me. good luck with ur leo
