  1. never had that problem

  2. I've been admitted to hospital many times (BPD). It seems every time I go there is always at least 1 nurse that seems to think that I'm faking or something. I've had nurses who've been outright hostile towards me.

I find myself angry right back because of their lack of professionalism and understanding.

This can make one's symptoms even worse as BPDs are very sensitive to this kind of behaviour.

I swore that I would never go back to the hospital ( that was five years ago), after the way I was treated last time.

  3. It is my understanding that, while personality disorders are listed in psychiatric journals, they are not true mental illnesses and should be treated differently by therapists and doctors. Is that what you mean?

Or, do you mean that you've felt stigmatized? If so, I don't really know what to tell you about that, except to deal with it in the same way you'd deal w/ any bully.

  4. sometimes i feel that most mental health professionals do not even understand why a person might have PDs as some a caused by childhood upbringing, which is not the persons fault.yes, sometimes if you tell someone you suffer from one, they shy away from you or might change their opinions and think you are nothing but trouble, but it just shows true ignorance on their parts.it is very risky if sharing with anyone about having any type of mental health issue because the risk of having them look at your differently.

  5. to be honest i dont know how shrinks treat people with bipolar or schizophrenia so its hard to say

is that your guilty conscience asking?  lol

  6. people are only diagnosed with personalty disorders because no one wants to be fvcked with you. you arent admitted to hospital with a personality disorder , only jail if you fvck up, as its considered untreatable, its how they weed out patients they dont want to deal with.

  7. idk, i have never had that problem.

  8. I know someone with borderline personality disorder who also has a degree in social work.  She knows some psych. professionals see people with BP as incurable or as demanding of their treatment team, but I think things are getting better as more is learned about some of the personality disorders.

  9. I agree with you on the treatment of personality disorders.  When I was studying for my masters degree in psychology, there were professors who said this was an impossible to treat.  Borderline Personality Disorders specifically have been mentioned by numerous professionals and professors as cases they turn away.  The reason I have seen and learned is because of the patient's attempt to manipulate the doctor or therapist and the purpose they do to therapy is for personal gain rather than healing.  I know that personality disorders generally do not respond to medication and that is also the theory why it is hard to treat.  A personality disorder is developed over time and usually the cause of abuse during childhood or lack of a bond with a parent.  If you suffer from this I would encourage you to spend time away from therapists and journal and try to uncover the origin of your disorder.  Write a history of your life and pinpoint where the abuse occurred.  Then heal from that point.  Change you thoughts.  Make a conscious decision as an adult that you no longer want to live this way.  Tell yourself, "I am willing to change and I love an release myself from my past."

    Good Luck!!!

  10. How woud the person with personality disorder know how her doctor is treating someone else with a different disorder?

I was reading about PD (I think I have it) and it says it's the most difficult disorder to diagnose and oftentimes it is overlooked and misdiagnosed as something else....
