I've just started painting these personalised toy boxes and would love to get some feedback as I'm thinking of starting my own bussiness selling them. I currently have 2 on ebay:

Also any ideas on places I could sell them or advertise would be great

  1. I love those!! The only thing I would add is about the paint you are using - hopefully not a nasty kind!  More pictures too - use Photobucket to host them yourself for free.

  2. These are great, lovely designs, but make sure it will be profitable for you.

It must take a long time to hand paint each box. Are you going to be happy making a relatively small profit in relation to your time? What about painting scenes and having them printed as well (selling them as posters)? That way you can keep a stock of different images and don't have to keep hand painting everything.

If this is a side line and you don't mind creating them in your spare time, then go for it! But if you wanted to rely on it as full time work, you'd burn out.

Be aware too that if you're getting any income rom this, you'll be classed as self employed and should register with the inland revenue. No pressure to do this, but it might save you hassle from them in the long run.

    Good luck with your venture!

  3. Hi,

Your items look just great, good stuff!

Just a few quick things which should improve your visitors experience and make them find your listing thus improving conversion rates!

    1) You may want to use nice listing templates so that the listing looks more professional. You can get a bunch of free templates using the link below.

There's a video tutorial as well about creating eBay listings that are easy to read and attract more attention - that's under the second link

    2) Use BayEstimator to optimize listing's title so that it gets maximum rankings in eBay search.

So - go to the third link below and enter a title of your eBay item.

Then hit 'Submit' button and see what's coming up.

Popularity will show you the keywords people may possible search similar items on eBay.

Popularity is demand and availability is supply. So you may want to optimize your listings' titles for the keywords with biggest demand and smallest supply (simple economy, isn't it? :-)

Under 'BayEstimate' you'll see how well your current title is optimized for the corresponding keyword.

What you have to do next is - click on the keyword you want to optimize your title for. You'll see a table called 'Keywords buyers like/dislike when searching for...' and there'll be all the phrases in the order of relevance to include in the title. So create the title using these keywords (and including your main keyword, of course), write it in the 'Modified Item Title' box and hit 'Submit'.

Make sure the search query is the keyword you want to optimize your title for. The bigger is the green circle then in the keywords table next to desirable keyword, the better your title is going to perform in eBay search.

In the table right under the 'Submit' button you'll see how relevant is each word in the title (it's indicated by the size of green circles).

3 ) Set up your own website to sell your merchandise, and you can drive traffic from your eBay listings to your store via eBay classified ads - they cost 10$ a month and can give a great exposure to your business.

You can do it on free classified sites like Craigslist as well.

Hope this all will help you a little bit!

    Regards,

    Robby
