  1. I really like Lori's suggestions. You could also do a chart to represent some of the characters and events. For instance, Anne starts out older - considered an old maid already by standards in that day - with the bloom of youth faded from her cheeks. An autumnal leaf could represent that fading of youth and loss of love.

Sir Walter Eliot could be represented by a peacock, because he is so very vain.

You could still do the character map with the image of something which represents that character as well as the character's name and a notation concerning how the characters are related to each other.

You could also do that but have Anne on one side with her relations arrayed below her, Lady Russell to her side pulling Anne towards her and Captain Wentworth on the other side with his relations and friends below him. I don't think I'm explaining my image very well, but somehow showing Lady Russell separating Anne from Frederick. Then, at the very bottom, you could show Anne as some sort of flower in bloom (she recovers that bloom of youth) together with a ship (or something else to represent Frederick) to show the separation is gone.

    Okay, not great...but I tried. :)

  2. You could do a socio-gram which is a visual web of how all of the characters are interrelated.  Start by creating a card for each of the characters, arrange them on a poster, use a ruler to connect the characters with one another and then write on the line what the relationship is.

There are several key letters that get passed around in the book.  Why not write a letter to Anne from that lady friend of hers who talks her into not marrying the Captain all those years ago.  Why did she so that?  What sis she say that convinced Anne to not marry the love of her life?

    Cheers
