  1. Claremonts a little dodgey. there were murders around there a while ago.

i would say Southern River/Canning Vale.

  2. There are dodgy areas wherever you go, as long as you don't walk the streets late at night etc you should be fine. I live near the Gosnells/Thornlie area, which people say is dodgy, but ive had no problems at all and Ive lived here my whole life.

  3. All suburbs have their good and bad people.  Claremont has a bit of a bad rap because of the so called "Claremont Serial Killer" where 3 girls were murdered - but that was over 10 years ago.  Otherwise, the areas you mentioned are all well-to-do areas and I wouldn't see a problem for a single female to live in any of them.  Just take the usual precautions (ie. never walk home alone!) and you will be fine.

  4. A young girl was raped and killed in a shopping centre toilet in Canning Vale by an Dante Arthur. Pamela Lawrence and a Sharon Mason were killed in Mosman Park by different strangers. Susan Christie was murdered in her flat at Daglish. The serial rapist/murderers the Birnies, picked up Dr Candy's daughter (one of their victims) in Nedlands, and people have mentioned the Claremont serial killer that's never been caught. Violent crime is unpredictable and the point is that you can only do so much to minimise the risks.

I'd stick to Crawley, Nedlands, and those other Western Suburbs if you can find a rental available. But I doubt it, everywhere is fully leased. You will not be able to find accommodation anywhere from Mosman Park to Crawley unless your prepared to spend a premium more than the advertised rent.

You could try Subiaco, Jolimnont, and Daglish, but again everything is already taken. Maybe try South Perth,  Victoria Park, Leederville, Wembley or Yokine you might be lucky.

  5. You could consider moving into one of the residential colleges across the road from UWA for a semester.  Get to know some people, the lay of the land.  Plus you get all your meals done too!
