Who should be selected and who should be left out? The Australian cricket team is in the worst possible condition than they have been in the past couple of decades. The batsmen are not able to compile runs, the bowlers have proved to be ineffective and the
fielders are not taking the chances to dismiss the English team.
The Australian think tank has some time to consider the possibilities of the players which can be picked up for the third match of the Ashes series. So far, the English team has been dominant in all the areas. They have not made any mistake and they have
been able to put the Australian team under immense pressure.
One of the players who will miss the remainder of the series would be Simon Katich. The opening batsman has suffered an injury and will miss all the action in the remaining matches. This will hurt the Australian team very badly as he has been performing
well for the team in all the recent series.
The difficult thing to decide for the team will be the selection of the bowlers. Two of the bowlers, Mitchell Johnson and Ben Hilfenhaus were dropped from the second Test after they failed to impress in the first drawn match.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 had brought back Doug Bollinger and Ryan Harris to see if they would lift the side by taking wickets. Harris proved to be a good choice whereas the left-armed Bollinger was unimpressive. The hero of the first innings, Peter Siddle is now wicket-less
after bowling 54 overs in the two games. He may also come under the scanner of the Australian selectors.
Another big issue for the Australian team is the spin bowling department. After the retirement of the legendary Shane Warne, the team has been unsuccessful to find any bowler who could replace him. They have tried a variety of spinners during this time but
no one proved to be effective for the team.
Australia has tried Jason Krejza, Nathan Hauritz, Steven Smith and Xavier Doherty. All the spinners have found it difficult to cement their place in the team. The lower middle order batsman, Marcus North has also been performing well to some extent with
his spin bowling but he has been unable to do well with the bat.
There are possibilities of some major changes to the Australian team in the third match of the Ashes series. Simon Katich will definitely be out, Marcus North, Peter Siddle, Xavier Doherty and Doug Bollinger will also be considered to be replaced. This may
give chances to some new batsmen and bowlers. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phillip-Hughes-c2185 may find their spots in the team whereas Nathan Hauritz can also be considered as an option in the Perth Test.
England will have to make a forced change to their side as Stuart Broad will be out of the series because of an abdominal injury. Apart from that, the English team may continue with the same side in all the remaining matches.
The Australian players will have to wait for their fate to be decided in a few days. The third match will start from 16 December. The selectors will particularly be concerned about the bowlers. Apart from Ryan Harris, all the other bowlers may be out of
the squad for the third match. However, the final eleven will be decided and revealed in due time.
