  1. I would recomend Melbourne. Perth is so far away from any place else whereas in Melbourne it is much easier to see other cities such as Sydney.

Obviously Perth is a beautiful city but it is smaller. Neither city is racist but Melbourne is certainly more culturally diverse.

Im sure you would enjoy both cities but Melbourne has more to offer than Perth.

  2. I think Perth is great (and I'm a Melburnite).  However, it's soooooooo far away from everywhere.

If you're from Asia, then Perth will suit you to a tea.  But if you're from the Pacific rim, you may find the expense of flights just too prohibitive.

So I'd suggest you base your decision on trips home to visit family/friends; rather than which city has the "brighter lights".

  3. Only insomniacs like me are still awake in Melbourne now...!

Obviously Melbourne is better. It is very diverse racially and culturally, and you would not stand out at all.  Come and enjoy the many different cultures and cuisines you will find in Melbourne.

  4. I live in Melbourne but I love both cities.   Deakin University is out in suburbia so if you are looking for the 'big city' experience, you will not get it out in Burwood.  I would go with the one that offers the best course in your particular area and I don't think you would be dissappointed with Perth at all.  In fact I think you would be very impressed - it is not a small city and it has heaps going for it.  Neither place is racist overall but you will find exceptions everywhere.  Good luck!
