Perth or vancouver?

Question

Hi we are going Perth in October and some people say vancouver would be better, has anybody been both? We are going to work, and my partner is in the building trade.......

Vancouver in early October is a great part of the world.  Terrific scenery all around. Not too hot.  But still comfortable.  

Perth is in the opposite season, so it can be a little damp.  But bracing.

Last summer I visited Vancouver, a very beautiful city with an important harbor and partially surrounded by the Rockys.

I had the impression  that the building industry is booming. Many rich Chinese people from Hongkong have moved over  to Vancouver wherefore housing prices went up.

In Va you have also many parks and amusing areas.

Unfortunately I don't know Perth. It is in one of my future travelling plans.

In any case, I would recommend to get in touch with your Embassy in Ottawa and Canberra. They can give you full economic, political, cultural information which might be interesting for you before making a definitve decision.

I don't know about Perth I'm afraid, but I know Vancouver has a huge amount of building work available at the mo due to the Winter Olympics being held there in 2010. Plus it's a gorgeous city surrounded by the rocky mountains.

I don't know about Perth, but that is the most isolated city in the world, lol

There are a lot of jobs in construction in Vancouver and the pay is very good, I think salaries are higher in Canada than in Australia, however lifestyle may be similar based on what I've heard

Vancouver is a great place to live, but winter even though mild for Canadian standards it is way colder than Australia
