Peru International: Lianne Tan ends Nikte Alejandra Sotomayor in Women’s Singles round-of-16 stage
Belgium’s Lianne Tan was at the top of her form when she displayed spectacular performance in the Women’s Singles round-of-16 battle and thrashed Nikte Alejandra Sotomayor of Guatemala in XVII Peru International 2012 in Peru, on Thursday, April 12.
Lianne, who was the seventh seed in the main draw, put up strong show by playing with impressive precision and hammered her lower ranked rival with a huge margin.
The Belgian did not spare even a single chance for her lower ranked opponent and ousted her in straight sets by taking just 26 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Nikte was helpless against the killing play of her higher ranked opponent and lost the battle without putting up any impressive performance.
Lianne started her campaign against Nikte in an elevated manner as she injected wonderful power in her strokes and managed an early lead without facing any resistance.
In the meanwhile, Nikte was not playing at her best as she could not dominate the pace of rallies and also remained struggling in the court.
Until the one-minute interval in the first set, Lianne was leading on the board with a wonderful margin.
After the break, Lianne continued her dominating performance in the court as she did not spare any chance for Nikte to fight back in the game. She ended the first set with a phenomenal margin of 21-12.
The second game was even more shocking for Nikte when Lianne continued her attacking play. This time the Belgian was a lot more aggressive as she executed strong pushes and powerful smashes.
The higher ranked Lianne was leading with a wonderful margin until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Nikte tried to put up meagre resistance but failed to create an impact against her in-form challenger.
Lianne was fully focused in the match and continued her impressive play in the concluding part of second game.
The Belgian was on a different level as she manipulated all loopholes of her opponent with a wonderful skill. She bagged the game with a stunning difference of 21-6.
The Belgian won the contest in two sets by putting up an incredible 21-12 and 21-6 margin on the score board.
