  1. Yes  we  were  through there  in  2005,  looking for the  Now Extinct  Peru Beetle,  it seems  they are being used  to  chew Coaco Leafs  to  Mulch for the  Drug  Cartel.

  2. its great, you'll have the time of your life.

if i were to go there again i'd try and get to stay in more of the remote villages.  cos i went from lima to cusco via only one other town and really i'd like to have seen more of the countryside.

downsides are the pesky peruvians that love to steal things.  but so long as you think about where to keep money, photocopying passports etc then you'll be fine.

  3. The train ride from Cuzco to Macchu Picchu is awsome. The sights are breathtaking.

    1. Don't forget your sunscreen. I was there at the cooler time of the season and I got roasted.

    2. Pring a little pack of tissues. The toilets are free at MP but you have to pay for the seat and the paper. (Not kidding)

    3. Bring a rain poncho. What may appear to be a nice day may result in a temporary heavy downpour.

Have fun and I know you're going to love it. I love Peru!

  4. Amazing!

  5. The weather is fine all through June to October.

  6. Absolutely beautiful, it's the best journey in Peru. Takes 1 week but it's worth it.

But you need two things Sun block and something against the insects.

  7. Great time to go there. I will advise you to bring good sunscreen, a good baseball cap, a cheap poncho a good hiking jacket (not thick)-the sporty type. You will go to Aguas Calientes which is the base town before the ascending to the ruins. If you stay in Aguas Calientes, which you will have to unless you are doing the Inca trails, go and dine at India Feliz! This place has the best prices and the best food! It's owned by a french and Peruivan couple and will not disappoint. When you do this hike make sure you bring a bottle of water with you and some trail snacks. Macchu Picchu was beautiful and the hike is increiible. Be prepared for the outside vendors and don't forget to haggle for a lower price! I would stay longer in this area if you can do a three day stay, there are hot springs in this town and it is something out of a dream. You will have so much fun! Bring a lot of space on your digital!

  8. For the Amazon basin there are some 100 operators of lodges and cruises.  Some are very cheap and just take you close to the cities where there is no significant wildlife.  Make sure you have an operator going to a national reserve; here the forest will be the best.  In Peru's Amazon there are 5 such places, Manu, Tambopata and Candamo in the south and Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo and Pacaya-Samiria in the north. The operator that just won the award from Peru's civic assn for the best in Peru's Amazon in 2006 is http://www.perujungle.com

  9. no sorry...
