Peru and Dominican Republic set to clash at 2011 FIVB Women’s Junior World Championship
The host of the 2011 FIVB Women’s Junior World Championship, Peru, is scheduled to take on the runner-up team from the previous edition of the championship today, Wednesday, July 22. Dominican Republic will go up against the Peruvian squad at Eduardo Dibos
Arena in Lima, Peru.
The 2011 FIVB Women’s Junior World Championship is currently underway in Peru and the campaign started off on July 22 with the preliminary round and it successfully covered the first stage on Sunday, July 24. The second round of the tournament was officially
opened on Tuesday, while 8 matches were played on the first day of the second round.
Peru and Dominican Republic both dropped their opening matches of the second round. Peru received a straight-set defeat from Italy, while Dominican Republic was defeated by Team USA in three sets. The home team had finished the previous round in top position.
They played in Pool A and captured all of their matches. Somehow, Peruvian squad failed to put up a good show against Italian competitors yesterday and lost the first match of second round in front of 5,000 spectators.
The Head Coach of Peru, Natalia Malaga regretted the loss of first match of second round but she urged the team to cover the deficit in the next match. Hence, Team Peru is all prepared to give a hard time to Dominican Republic in today’s match. The Captain
Girl Clarivet Yllescas is keeping her team united for the cause. It is likely that Peru will rise up again.
Likewise, the Dominican Republic Team is mentally prepared to face the hosts. Dominican Republic received the defeat in last match duo to too many unforced mistakes. Even the team was equipped with a great libero in the form of Brenda Castillo, who is famous
for her solid reception but they couldn’t give out a good performance. They need to overcome their flaws, in order to perform better against Peru. In this regard, the Mentor of the team Wargner Pacheco has the daunting task to render his team a good game-plan.
Meanwhile, the players would be required to pay close attention to the ball movement and handle it carefully.
The match is supposed to start in the evening and a huge number of local fans are expected to make it to the match venue. Hence, Dominican Republic will be playing under double-pressure. In the first place, Peru has compiled a better record of wins in the
previous round of the tournament and secondly they will be equipped with stupendous emotional support of home audience.
All eyes are set on the clock as fans are desperately waiting for the match to start. After this match, both teams will have one more appearance to go in the second round. Peru will be playing against Team USA, while Dominican Republic will end the second
round by taking on Italy on Thursday.
