Following a winning start in the tournament, women’s volleyball team of Peru suffered the loss in the second match. Peru met archrival Brazil in the second match of XI Women’s Pan Am Cup on Friday and received 0-3 (11-25, 19-25, 16-25) defeat.

on the net and received huge applause from fans on account of her amazing game skills. She added 10 spikes on 27 attack attempts, had four successful blocks, and also registered three serve aces. On the whole, she totalled match-high 17 points.
The trio of Joyce Silva, Natasha Farinea, and Priscila Dairot also did amazingly well. Joyce notched up 12 points, while Farinea and Priscila registered 11 points apiece.
On the other hand, Peruvian ladies failed to create any buzz on the centre court. None of the players could go into double-figure score. Clarivett Yllescas was the top-scorer from Peru with 8 points. The actual cause of Peru’s failure was the weak defence.
South American top-guns came out firing in the first set and promptly earned better status on the scoreboard. The ball frequently dropped on Peruvian side and provided a lot of damage to the team. Brazilian players continued with hard-hitting and took the
game far from the reach of opponents. Peru scored only 11 points when Brazil achieved the set points.
Peruvian squad tried to fight back in the following set and put up a great effort. However, the Brazilians denied all their efforts and kept the operations of the game in hand. Brazil closed second set at 25-19 and extended its lead to 2-0.
Third set was not different from the previous two sets. Brazil showed remarkable consistency and cruised past to 25-16 in the third set. The match reached its conclusion in three sets and Brazil bagged victory.
Peruvian captain Keldibekova said: “Brazil showed their high technical level and their traditional style of play. We had some good moments but our reception was our problem. We changed coaches recently and for the young players takes some time to adjust.”
Natasha Farinea, the Brazilian skipper acknowledged that Peruvian player put in a great effort. She especially credited setter and team captain Keldibekova for her wonderful performance.
“We played very hard against a world class tradition team we respect like Peru. I am very happy because our objective here is to give experience to this group of young players,” said Brazil’s Coach Claudio Pinheiro.
