The first half between the two teams ended in a goalless draw. Uruguayans were dominant but Peru had enough men behind the ball to save all sorts of attacks being created by the Uruguayans. However, with Forlan and Suarez playing in front, anything was expected
in the second half.
Both the coaches seemed satisfied with their team’s performance and they did not make a single change as the second half kicked off. No tactical change took place neither did anyone get substituted.
As the second half kicked off, the Uruguayans looked to be hungry for goals. They were all on the attack and it did not really take them long to score the first goal of the game. It was during the 53rd minute when Luis Suarez scored for the Uruguayan
team.
The inspiration behind the first goal was the FIFA World Cup golden ball winner, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-c11058 Forlan. The first free kick was taken by Pereira and it wasn’t well hit, Forlan found the ball free from 25 yards out and he decided to shoot it on goal. Fernandez blocked
the shot perfectly but couldn’t hold on to the ball because of the amount of power on it. The deflected shot was well collected by Luis Suarez who easily found the back of the net to give his side the lead.
With Suarez scoring the first goal of the game, Peru decided to go all on the attack and started to play a high back line. The high back line later caused the second goal for the Uruguayans.
It was after five minutes when Luis Suarez completed his brace. While the first goal was out of nowhere, the second was the same. While the Peru defenders played a high back line, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álvaro-Pereira-c5297 found Luis Suarez making a run from the left flank to the centre.
Pereira’s ball perfectly found Suarez’s feet and helped him go one-on-one with the Peru goal stopper Fernandez.
Fernandez made a run forward to block Suarez but the Liverpool striker easily rounded the goalkeeper and found the back of the net to make the score line 2-0. With Uruguay taking a two goal lead, it was almost impossible for Peru to make a comeback.
Peru definitely needed a miracle to at least draw the game as they were barely making a run towards the Uruguayan goal. Soon, Peru found themselves losing the game as their best player on the pitch and their captain Vargas got red carded.
The Peru skipper had the ball and Coates covered him but couldn’t really time his tackle. Vargas threw an elbow right at Coates’ face and the referee saw it and gave him a straight red card.
Peru created their best chance of the game after they got red carded. It was during the 72nd minute when a corner was met by Vilchez inside the box and he headed it towards the goal but couldn’t score as Muslera made a save again.
Uruguay created another great opportunity and it was Gonzalez who found Diego Forlan making a run into the box. The Atletico Madrid star gave a wonderful pass to Eguren who couldn’t control the ball in the box and wasted a goal scoring opportunity.
The match ended with Uruguay winning the game 2-0 – all thanks to two goals from the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Venezuela-c3039 as they are going to play in the second semi final.
