I will be visiting Peru this summer and I want to go to some remote villages, such as San Pedro de Casta.

Can I take a bus there? Or will I have to chart one/hire someone/or get a car?

  1. San Pedro de Casta is about 48miles inland from Lima and just 2 miles further on is Marcahuasi.

Because of the altitude, it’s not advisable to go there from Lima in one day; acclimatize or at least a night in San Pedro. It takes three hours to hike up to the site.

Take a bus from Lima to Chosica; minibuses to Chosica can be picked up from Arica at the Plaza Bolognesi (US$0.75, it takes two hours).

Then ask for Transportes Municipal San Pedro, which leaves from Parque Echenique in Chosica at 9am and 3pm (US$1.50,it takes four hours).
