Juventus were actively pursuing the signature of Marco Verratti since the end of last season, however, negotiations fell through due to the demands of the Delfini.

Verratti has been likened as the next Andrea Pirlo, and Juventus had been keen on adding the young starlet into their ranks. Pescara were valuing the midfielder in the region of 13 million Euros, and wanted him to spend the first
season with them in their quest of surviving in the Serie A.
That seemed to be the stumbling block for all the Serie A suitors of Verratti, who wanted the midfielder to play for them after the move finalised rather than him going back to the Delfini.
Juventus and Napoli were in active pursuit of the creative midfielder; however, talks seem to have subsided between the Italian clubs.
Verratti came on record to state that he wants to play alongside his idol, Andrea Pirlo, as he would be able to learn a lot from the Bianconeri regista. Inadvertently, he was suggesting that he was still keen on a move to the Scudetto
winners.
After talks with the Italian clubs fell through, Pescara were in talks with Paris Saint-Germain for the sale of the promising youngster. Regarding the interest shown by the Parisian outfit, Pescara President, Daniele Sebastiani
has stated that the Ligue 1 outfit is showing more interest in signing the youngster than Juventus did.
He went on to state that his preference was for the Italian U-21 international to join a club in Serie A, but if PSG offer a substantive offer, they would be keen to consider it. He remarked:
“We have the same chances of completing negotiations as we had with Juventus and Napoli. I personally would have preferred one of the two Italian options, because we would have had him back on a year-long loan.”
The Delfini chief executive went on to state that when there is a real intent to buy a player, a million Euros does not make that big of a difference, and remarked:
“Obviously it is because of a lack of will, because if you really want the player, €1m does not make a difference. In fact, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 showed a willingness, even if the player has decided on his own to do what he wants.”
Juventus would be assessing the situation given that Verratti has shown keenness on ending up at the Juventus Arena.
