Peschke/Srebotnik blasts their way past Voracova/Zakopalova in round three – French Open 2012
Second seeded Czech-Slovenian duo of Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik registered yet another thumping victory over the Czech tandem of Renata Voracova and Klara Zakopalova in the third round of the French Open. They overwhelmed
their bleak opponents in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, to reach the quarter-final round of the clay-court Grand Slam event in Paris, France.
It was a completely one-sided affair, with Peschke and Srebotnik dominating every minute of it to come out as the winners. The veterans kept the games short and professional, belting their Czech opponents to all parts of the court
and cruising through the sets with commanding ease to reach the final-eight. Peschke and Srebotnik spared barely two games for their rivals and bettered them in every segment of the game to drive them out of the contest convincingly.
The second seeds delivered 68 per cent of their serve on target and clinched 27 out of 39 first serve points en route to victory. They exhibited phenomenal return game throughout the contest and sneaked 18 out of 26 return points
on their opponents’ first serve. Peschke and Srebotnik crafted a total of 11 break opportunities in the matchup and six conversions proved sufficient for them to wrap up victory in style. On the other hands, Voracova and Zakopalova could merely register one
serve break in the entire contest, frittering away three vital opportunities to finish on the losing side in the end.
The opening set of the match witnessed flawless tennis from the Czech-Slovenian duo. Peschke and Srebotnik won the toss to serve first and then immediately launched an all-round onslaught upon the Czech opponents. The second seeds
broke Voracova and Zakopalova three times in a row to go on a six-game rampage to close out the opener with a bagel, 6-0.
Voracova and Zakopalova held their serve for the first time in the following set but their momentum didn’t last longer. The second seeds nailed three successive break points in reply to their rivals’ lone serve break to conclude
their assertive victory at 6-2.
Peschke and Srebotnik will meet the other fifth seed Czech duo of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka in the quarter-final round.
