If there is a bylaw in place about not being able to use pesticides like roundup and killex on your lawn then why are stories still able to sell them?

  1. Roundup is a herbicide not a pesticide, but one of the surfactants it contains will kill tadpoles and frogs. I am not aware of the active ingredient in "killex". Organic gardening is a viable way of growing everything from lawn to trees if you understand the principles involved. Save money, save the environment and have a better gareden. DONT USE POISONS, there are alternatives. Check the biological farmers website.

  2. im not familiar with Killex, but roundup is a "non selective herbicide".  that means it is designed to kill all plants. there are a few weeds out there that are naturally resistant to it though.  if you were to use this on your lawn it would kill it.  even if you were just trying to kill one little dandelion you would kill the grass around it.  ive never heard of a bylaw prohibiting use of round up on lawns, although that doesnt mean there isnt one.

round up is supposed to be one of safest (non toxic to humans) herbicides on the market.  ive heard "stories" that when roundup (glyphosphate) was first introduced that the reps would actually drink a bit of it to demonstrate to the customer how safe it was (i wouldnt try this because round up has been reformulated since then).

  3. Round up is a general use pesticide.  the general public may use these.  There is also Restricted Use Pesticides that are controled by the EPA and state Agriculture Depts.  I dont know any by-laws that you mentioned that would be legal and above the govt.
