http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergei-Pesyakov-c32970 has blamed his side for making defensive mistakes during their second UEFA Champions League group stage game against Celtic FC at Luzhniki stadium
Spartak Moscow goalkeeper, Sergei Pesyakov, started the European fixture against the Scottish Premier League club in place of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andriy-Dikan-c5993, who is on the sidelines after sustaining fresh injury.
The 25-year-old stopper, who joined Spartak from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Rostov-c39192 this summer, made his debut in the Russian Cup round-of-16 against FC Baltika Leningrad after Dikan sustained a shoulder injury during the second-half of the match.
Pesyakov, meanwhile, helped the Moscow-based club in winning their last Russian Premier League tie against FC Rostov on the away turf after making a couple of decent saves during the match.
However, the Russian shot-stopper failed to impress during the European meeting after missing out three goals at home.
Though Juan Insaurralde was responsible for making things complicated for the host team after picking up a straight red card and giving away a cheap penalty, Pesyakov has insisted that he is the one to blame for the Russian outfit’s
heart aching defeat against Celtic.
Spartak will now lock horns with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SL-Benfica-c40542 at home after playing league matches against CSKA Moscow and Anzhi Makhachkala respectively.
“I was a little worried prior to the match but then the excitement went away with the starting whistle. The sending off affecting the outcome of the match but I will not blame anyone other than me. Celtic took the numerical advantage
and scored two goals in the end.”
“In general, we limited our chances to go on attack and score after going one man down. But I still think we deserved a draw as both the team had almost equal chances on the pitch. Now, we have to win both the games against Benfica
if we want to progress.” The former Shinnik Yaroslavl player was quoted as saying.
Pesyakov admitted that they have made lives difficult for themselves after losing against the hoops and urged his side to win the remaining group stage games in a bid to reach the later stages of the continental tournament.
