Ive had a young bluejay for 2 months or so. He is fully feathered, friendy, sits on his perches in cage, and protectve of me. I found him, there was a bigger bluejay near him dead. It was mom and ther was no other bluejays around. I seen a few yound ones who did call for mom but they could fly, he couldnt. I noticed feathers were missing on his wings preventing him from flying. I bough him a cage, perches and formula for all birds. He ate well was really hungary. Later, he started to peck at food and he has been eating formula w/o syringe. He eats mealworms(heads cut off), peices of bananas, cucumbers, watermelon, carrits, calery, and wild bird seed. He loves it all. I also let him outside and he follows me around the yard. He is very protective and if someone comes by me expecially the dog he attacks the dog and doesnt like my dad too much.

Is ther somethin else i shuld feed him or is the stuff above ok 4 him?

When will he stop eatin da formula?

Am I doin Ok?

  1. Wow~ very kind of you to take care of this little guy!  :)  Baby animals can be very demanding. Sounds like you're doing great! I found this site.... http://www.centralpets.com/animals/birds...

I also saw this thread on a site...

I'm not sure I understand it real well... but it might be worth looking into.

    GOOD LUCK!

  2. You have to let him go eventually. He wouldn't be able to survive in the wild. He was born wild

  3. you might want to let it go at some point  if u do u can just get another bird one that was meant to be a pet
