Pet Parakeet is scared of me!?

Question

I bought a pet paraket 2 months ago. Before it was only mildly scared of me, it would allow me to take it out of its cage and handle it a bit. Now that its "flight feathers" grew back, it wants nothing to do with me, it starts flipping out when i stick my hand in the cage to change food and water dish let alone to handle it. When i finnaly managed to get it out, it flew around like crazy and flew straight into a window. I'm afraid to let it out again for the fear of it hurting itself. How do i get it to be calmer around me?
