Pet Shelter? any? i need help

Who can i give my cats away to whats a shelter? theyre 3 yr old cats and i can no longer keep them. I live in south florida what should i do

look in the phone book under animal shelter and call ahead for their policies about animals.

before giving them to a shelter see if any if ur freinds want them and if they go to a shelter do a non kill one PLZ

Try posting ads online and at various public places to see if you can give them away to a good home first because a lot of shelters will tell you they're full, unless you drop them off at the shelter without phoning. Check for some shelters in your phone book and online - some human societies have their own websites.

That's a tough situation... sorry you have to make such a choice.

A shelter is an agency that helps find homes for pets and deals with abandoned animals. Some are run by the SPCA or ASPCA, some by the county you live in (usually part of Animal Control, the same people you get dog licenses from.) You can find them in the phone book under "animal shelters", "animal adoption", etc.

They do a good job and try very hard but, sadly, not all animals find homes. Some shelters will put unadopted animals to sleep, some won't - you need to ask ahead of time about this.

You should try first to find homes for your cats yourself. Ideally, your neighbors could adopt them (especially if they already have cats.) You can also try craigslist and local want-ads.

If there is an S.P.C.A near that would be great. They have a no termination policy.  They also spay/neuter the pets and place chips in them to keep tabs.  I got my cat from one. LOVE him to death!

Look in the phone book or on line  for places that take in animals and be sure to call and get ALL of their policies before surrendering them to  the shelter
