  1. Delta Dawn is right...you need an enzyme cleaner.  Nature's Miracle is an enzyme cleaner.  Although they do have 2 varieties.  Whatever enzyme cleaner you use, it will take time for them little enzymes to eat up all that protein!!  And from my own experience, the smell gets worse before it gets better!!  Depending on your carpet, you may never get the stain out.  But with time and patience you can get the smell out.

However, if your pet continues to use the same area over and over again, you may never get rid of the smell!!   It may just be time to replace the carpet and padding.

I disagree with steam cleaning your carpet.  The heat or steam will also destroy the enzymes that are trying to eat the protein.

  2. Bio Kleen Bac Out, it is an all natural product that removes stains and odors.  It got a big yellow stain from my dog out of my very light carpet and you would never know it was there.  The smell is gone too.  I just poured it on (it comes with or without a spray) and let it sit over night then cleaner it with my carpet cleaner.

I bought mine at the independent version of Whole Foods near me but I have also seen it at Whole Foods and sometimes at the regular grocery store.  If you can't find it in a store drugstore.com sells it.

you need ammonia and alcohol in there too!  Be sure to flush everything out with cold water when you're done!!!!!

  4. As has been said, the urine is in more than the carpet.  Sorry, but the ONLY way is to remove the carpet and padding, seal the floor, and replace with new padding and carpet.  No miracle, just $ and labor.

  5. Natures Miracle is an enzyme cleanser and it takes time to work because the enzymes eat away the urine over time. There is also a difference in the Natures Miracle and the Natures Miracle formulated for cat urine. If it's a cat urine stain you need that specific formula. However, if the carpet is severly saturated there really isn't anything you can do other than rip out the carpet and Kilz the floor. I had a cat die recently with diabetes and her kidneys failed. She peed so much on my carpet that the Natures Miracle was just not enough. We had to rip it up. Kilz the sub floor and spray Natures Miracle on all the baseboards then we tiled the floors.

P.S. I used to have a neighbor named Kathy Wilson. Wouldn't be you would it?

  6. The problem with urine is it is a protien.  This protien feeds off the moisture (humidity) in your home.  On a high humidity day you will notice the smell worse due to more moisture being present in the air.

What you are going to need to use is an Enzyme to combat the protien.  Lowes and Home Depot sell some.  Take the pet enzyme and spray it on the area of urine really well.  Cover with plastic and let it sit for a day (if possible).  Putting the plastic over the area and tacking it down allows no air to be pulled in and allows the enzyme to attack the urine.  The next day, steam clean the area.

The other thing you need to look at is if there have been repeated issues with an animal urinating on your carpet (usually in the same places), it may have soaked through the padding into the subfloor (if wood).  If that is the case, you are going to have to replace the pad and seal the floor with Kilz to get rid of it.

Hope that helps, and good luck!!
